Xin-Chang Railway (Xinyi-Changxing)

Linked Jiangsu cities: Xinyi County (Xuzhou)-Huai’an-Yancheng-Hai’an(Nantong)-Changzhou-Wuxi-Yixing-Changxing(Zhejiang Province)

The railway formerly opened in December, 2003 and is a railway of north-south direction. Its overall length is 522 km. The railway starts at Xinyi City, a city at the Jiangsu's north border under the jurisdiction of Xuzhou City, running through and further crossing the southern border of the province, finally terminating at Changxing, a city of Zhejiang Province.

The north-south direction railway links Longhai Railway between Xuzhou and Lianyungang and Jiao-Xin (Jiaodong-Xinyi) Railway in the north of Jiangsu, and connects Nanjing-Shanghai Railway in the south of Jiangsu. It also links Nan-Qi Railway at Hai’an in the east of the province.

The rail line tremendously enhances cargo transportation for Jiangsu North, by passing Huai’an, Yancheng and Nantong, and provides an important connection amid four railways within Jiangsu Province, in which most of them are the east-west direction railways.
