Ningqi Railway (Nanjing-Qidong)


Linked Jiangsu cities: Nanjing-Luhe-Yizheng-Yangzhou-Jiangdu-Taizhou-Jiangyan-Hai'an-Rugao-Baipu-Nantong-Haimen-Qidong(Nantong)

The railway started its construction in 2002 and the overall length is around 351 km. The railway is a unique railway that its starting and terminating are both within Jiangsu and enhances the rail transportation of the northern part of the province by connecting another existed railway in this region, Xin-Chang Railway (Xinyi County of Xuzhou to Changxing City of Zhejiang Province) via Hai’an, a county under Nantong’s jurisdiction.

Ning-Qi Railway starts at Nanjing, the capital city of Jiangsu Provence, goes toward to the north just a little bit and then turns to the east of Jiangsu, passeing cities including Yizheng, Yangzhou, Taizhou and Nantong, and finally ends at Qidong County, a coastal county under Nantong’s jurisdiction. At present, the section from Nanjing to Nantong has finished but the section from Nantong to Haimen and Qidong is still under construction. The railway line tremendously strengthens cargo transportation of the North of Jiangsu and provides a convenient passage to the Northeast of China.
