thanks very much for your advice.
I'm not interested in employing someone on a temporary basis - if i were to engage someone for two months, by the time that person had settled in and I had trained/familiarised them with how the job is to be done, it would be time for them to leave!
actually, i've had two other English-speaking people contact me in relation to this position. they will both do a few days trial over the next couple of weeks, and i will hopefully be able to choose one of them, so it seems my problem might be solved!
