A band in the funeral?

I rent an apartment in a quite residental conmmunity, but yesterday someone downstares might have passed away, and his whole family gathered together and set up a gig of a sort. The band is damn noisy and the songs seem so happy. I haven't had a good sleep last night, and they keep on singing loudly, I can feel the building is shaking...
Usually, we wish the one who died can find his peace...not like that...
Can someone explain it to me, I totally get confused, and I do want to know when they'll stop, I hope my whole weekend is not ruined. :(

Some people choose to have their funeral service at the nearby neighborhood but not in a funeral home. the service may last for several days and the funeral music is on and on, very noisy, never stop even at nights. The family may organize a party to treat the deceased's relatives, friends, with food, drinks...noisy too. Talk to the building superintendent if he/she could do something.

So bad sometimes a band and a group of people acting like witches are invited to the funeral to perferm.
Local government may have regulations on hand to guide it. Ask your building authorety to intervene and hope not too much noice.

Yes the band is quite normal. often the 1st night somebody has died there will be alot of people going round banging pots and pans, the 2nd is the main day, with the band and people wailing- the louder the wailing the more the dead person is leaving behind as inheritance, big feasting that day, lots of firecrackers before the cremation then after the cremation the body wil be placed (for parents its in the house of the oldest son) more firecrackers and band. the 3rd day is a big dinner. Im sure theres more to it then that but thats what I've seen here.

Is the music any good? I know in New Orleans, they have jazz funerals which are actually really neat. I wasn't aware that they had bands and so much activities and festivities around a funeral in China. With the jazz funerals, it is a procession that goes down the street rather than staying in one place.
