For Canadian voters in Nanjing

Postby nickistin » Thu Oct 02, 2008 1:37 am

Canadians living or travelling in Nanjing, Jiangsu, and who wish to vote in the October 2008 Federal Elections, are advised that the Canadian Embassy will organise the delivery of completed ballots to Ottawa, in time for the elections. Canadian citizens must deliver their completed ballot to the Consular section of the Canadian Embassy no later than 12:00 PM (noon), Thursday, October 9, 2008. Anyone who brings ballots after that time, will be advised to send the ballot directly to Canada by their own means.

Canadians are advised to deliver their completed ballots as soon as they can and not wait for the October 9th deadline. Should sufficient number of completed ballots be received by the Embassy before October 9, the Embassy may dispatch them earlier. However, the last dispatch will be on October 9th.

Please contact the Embassy at (86-10) 5139-4000 for any further information you may require.

Canadian Progressive Conservative Party won the second minority government Tuesday night and Mr Steven Harper is still the Prime Minister.

You guys may have to vote again, just 13 days after a general election! The new conservative government would most likely be defeated by a coalition formed by Opposition Liberal, New Demoncrats and Bloc Quebecois the next week. If the Conservative premier Stephen Harper chooses to dissolve the Parliament, you'll need to go back to voting stations again. We'll see.
